  • 2. Initial lower case "e" overwritten with capital letter.
  • 3. Pictures from Italy was first published in the Daily News between 21 January and 11 March 1846, then as a single volume in May 1846, with illustrations by Samuel Palmer. Bradbury & Evans's Accounts show that CD was sent 25 copies in total; see To Felix Joyce, 19 May 1846, in Pilgrim Letters 4, p. 547.
