  • 1. The Rev. Joseph Hindle (?1795-1874), Vicar of Higham 1829-74: see Pilgrim Letters 8, p. 53n. Hindle was the tenant of Gad’s Hill when CD bought it, remaining by agreement until Lady Day (25 March) 1857. The letter was possibly connected with Hindle’s departure from the house.
