Dear Sir

In reply to your obliging letter I beg to assure you that I cannot formally give you any direct commission to write any special paper for “All The Year Round”, because I know nothing of your poems or manner of treatment. But I can without the least hesitation assure you that there is always an opening in those pages for a good and suitable contribution, and that whatever is offered at the office for insertion is honestly read, with a very sincere desire to discern merit.

R. C. Beavan Esquire.

Faithfully Yours
