- 1. William Samuel Emden (?1801-72), theatre manager and playwright; lessee and manager of the Olympic Theatre from 10 Aug 57, of which he had previously been treasurer: see Pilgrim Letters 8, p. 394n.
- 2. The facsimile is cut off at the left hand margin which removes [My] [a] and the initials [W. S.] of the addressee.
